My parents visit…

October 3, 2008

Well, for the last several days my parents have been here visiting. But ,they left this morning for Pittsburgh.(visiting family, then will head back to FL) We had a great time. They brought us all sorts of goodies-namely Christmas cookies and chocolate. You won’t believe it, but the chocolate is going faster around here than the cookies. Unbelievable. In any case I thoroughly enjoyed their visit. God is good.

Hi Sr Veronica, it’s great to see that your parents visited and that you had a great time.
I was wondering about some of the sisters on your picture. There is one wearing a high fillet ( band across the brow) is she one of your community or from elsewhere, or is that a different type of habit of your community?
You also have a sister in white – again is she part of your community? She is wearing a white veil so looks like a novice but maybe a cistercian visitor? Curiosity I know, but it would be good to know. Thanks also for sharing some of your formation subjects, I might do that one too, thanks for the idea. pax sr marie-therese.

    Sr. Marie Therese-

I promise I haven’t forgotten about your questions. Hopefully I’ll be able to answer them by dinnertime.

    God bless.

    Sister Marie Therese-

I’m so sorry that it took me so long to get back to your question. I had to do a little research.

The Sister in the white habit (Sister Faustina) is a nurse. Those Sisters working in direct patient care have the option to wear a white habit, as Sister does. Incidentally, she is a temporary professed Sister. the brown habit is worn by all Sisters on weekends and on special occasions/feasts, etc.

The Sister in the traditional habit (Sister Mary Stephanie) is a member of our community. She has a little different story. Her community was amalgamated into ours and at that time permission was granted to those Sisters to retain the habit of their former community. From my understanding it was a painful time for them, and this permission was a great grace from God granted by Sister Frances Marie(Major Superior at the time) amd a source of comfort for them.

Hope that answers your questions. Feel free to ask anytime.

God bless. Gotta run to prayers!

    Sister Veronica
