The country loom here at the convent is about the same length as this model, but looks a lot more streamlined than this one.(The wooden part is not so bulky) The way you use it is to wrap the yarn around the pegs in a figure-8 pattern(twice), then when at the end of a row you use the hook to pull the bottom strand over the top one. There are a few pictures here. Hope this helps.(and inspires someone to try out the country loom 🙂 )

    Sr. Veronica,
Thanks for sharing this info, it looks very easy to use!
Hope you and all the Sisters are having a nice week in your annual retreat, especially Sr. M. Magdalene. I will pray for her too.

    Hello Nuria,

Glad that you found the country loom interesting. Thank you for your retreat wishes and prayers for Sr. Magdalene. We had a most wonderful retreat preached by a Benedictine priest, Father Gabriel Bullock OSB. It was on Lectio Divina, or Sacred Reading. God IS good!

I’ve tried to learn knitting a couple times, I’m all thumbs when it comes to crafts. Maybe I could give this a whirl, great ideas here.

The country loom is a lot of fun. I hightly recommend it. It’s a lot easier than knitting. Right now I’m working on crocheting the ends of a scarf made w/ the country loom. It’ll be donated to our annual Fall Bazaar.
( Normally it’s the weekend before Thanksgiving. I’ll write a detailed post about it beforehand though.

God bless, Sister M. Veronica OSF
