Traditions

December 31, 2010

On December 24th, Sister Rose Therese and I went out to the Motherhouse where we joined the Sisters who live at the Motherhouse and any of our Sisters who come for Christmas, for the last day of the Christmas Novena.  After the Novena all the Sisters went to the smaller of two Chapels where the Blessed Sacrament is present at all times and the Christ Child was placed in the crib by one of our Infirmary Sisters.  After the Christ Child was in the crib all the Sisters sang Christmas carols in both English and German (many of our older Sisters are from Germany) and then we helped some of the Infirmary Sisters open their gifts.  This is a tradition that we have every Christmas Eve and for the Sisters it is a chance for Community sharing and joy.
