Denver FOCUS Conference

January 18, 2011

Sister Magdalene and I just got back from the FOCUS conference in Denver.  (FOCUS stands for Fellowship of Catholic University Students)    It was really impressive.  Somewhere around 1500 students attended from universities in Colorado and nearby states.  This year’s theme is “Answering the Call.”

We didn’t go to all the talks but the ones we heard were very good.  I really enjoyed Chris Stefanick’s talk on Saturday.   Saturday Mass was celebrated by Archbishop Charles Chaput and Sunday, by Bishop Conley.  I was surprised to see how many families were there with their young children.

I found a really good quote that I wanted to share:

We have never had any shortages of Vocations, God continues to call. Just shortages of young men & women saying “Yes” to Jesus. Continue to encourage young men to enter the Priesthood & young men & women to enter Consecrated Life. God love you !

They have them every year. As far as I know, they’re always during the students Christmas break. Next year will be the national conference as opposed to the regional conferences this year. I hope you’ll be able to go next year.
