The Novitiate

January 19, 2011

Now that we are back to Ordinary Time in the liturgical Church calendar it feels like we are back to a routine in the Novitiate as well.  Classes, regular study and work times have resumed and I am performing Sacristan duties in our hospital chapel for our Monday – Friday 6:30 a.m. Mass, weekend Masses and Benediction.  I understand from speaking with professed Sisters that each Sister during formation received Sacristan training so now it is my turn.

Hi Sr. Mary Francis, I always wonder about something, what do I do when I come across a sister, who is in a cloister order, can I talk to her or not? Been thinking about this for sometime.

Learning the sacristan job is another learning experience in your growth of becoming a sister. Don’t give up for there are people behind you.

    Shalom, Ann Creech

Ann, when you meet a Sister from a cloistered community you may talk with her. I hope you have a blessed week.

Congratulations! In about a month I’ll be joining an order in Peoria as well (Franciscan Sisters of John the Baptist) so I can relate to your excitement 😛

It’s funny. The Franciscan sisters on Heading Avenue also just had a new postulant come yesterday. 🙂
