Lent Traditions
Like our Christmas Community traditions, we also have Lenten traditions. Franciscans have always had a deep devotion to the Passion and the Stations of the Cross so for Lent we have two weekly devotions that assist our Sisters in honoring the Lord and His suffering.
On Tuesday evenings we have the devotion to the Last Seven Words and on Friday evenings we have communal Stations of the Cross. This Lent several of our Sisters have been participating in the Lenten Franciscan Pilgrimage of the Stations of the Cross. This pilgrimage has included many Churches in the Peoria area and began at the Cathedral. Each Friday one of the many communities of Franciscans in Peoria is hosting the Stations of the Cross at a different Church.
Franciscans are very supportive of each other as St. Francis of Assisi desired of his followers. This Lenten pilgrimage has been another wonderful opportunity to come together and remember the meaning of this Liturgical season.
Hi Sr. Mary Francis,
It is so nice to hear what the Sisters are doing at that Motherhouse and in the community. Those are activities which not too many people see anymore. Keep it up. Always in my prayers. Ann Creech
