A New Look in the making!

June 29, 2011

I am so excited to share the most recent update of the habits “in the making” for the Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis! The newest updates were discussed at our most recent community forum.

As I mentioned in my previous post about the updates to the habit, Sr. Judith Ann noted that it was a year in which we would seek to return to the roots of our community. Hence, the habit is more reminiscent of that worn by our pioneer sisters. The habit is very “Franciscan” in nature in regards to the simplicity of it. The sisters veils will also be longer, as well. I am so excited about the newest additions to this beautiful look, though- the scapular and the Franciscan Cord.

We are very blessed to have Franciscan Crowns (similar to a rosary only with seven decades to commemorate the seven joys of Mary). These will be hand-made by the Poor Clares in Rockford.

I am very excited about this beautiful new look! As the material continues to arrive, the new habits will begin to be made!

LOVE the scapular! That was the one thing I found myself thinking of when I saw the first edition. 🙂 Congrats on the new threads. Pax, Birgitta

Young people thirst for Catholic tradition and a radical commitment to Christ.
You are heading in the right direction Sisters…BRAVO! The Lord will reward you
