Death and Ascension of St. Francis

Death and Ascension of St. Francis by Giotto

On Oct 3rd we celebrated the death Saint Francis.(which is called a Transitus) It is a beautiful prayer service culminating in the opportunity to venerate a relic of Saint Francis.

On Oct. 4th we celebrated the feast of Saint Francis with a solemn celebration of the Divine Office & Holy Mass. It was so meaningful. It was also a day to recreate and enjoy the company of our Sisters.

Our General Chapter began on September 30, 2012 and will conclude with the Election of a new Major Superior on Saturday October 6, 2012.

According to our Constitutions:

The purpose of the Chapter of Affairs is to provide for the general good of our Community, to encourage and increase our spiritual and apostolic vitality, and to ensure unity and constant renewal in our Community.
(Constitutions  # 172)

Today, being First Friday we have a special Day of Recollection in preparation for the election of a new Major Superior tomorrow.

Sister Judith Ann in her opening address called on the Chapter members to remember that their duty is to safeguard the sacred patrimony of our Intstitute. She stated:

“God has called us together to represent our entire religious community, to be a true sign of it’s unity in love, to protect the sacred patrimony of our institute and to promote meaningful renewal faithful to that patrimony.  (Code of Canon Law 631)  Much is entrusted to us but we stand on firm ground, the sacred legacy of our founding Sisters, and we are supported by the wonderful prayers and sacrifices of all our Sisters.”

Please join us in asking the Holy Spirit to guide our Chapter and our community at large.

Pax et Bonum!

Good Friday

April 6, 2012

May God bless you on this Good Friday.

We have been listening to tapes by Archbishop Sheen on the Passion of Christ.

He has some great talks on the Passion and the seven last words.  They have helped me a lot to meditate on our Lord’s passion and death.  I hope they will be of help to you too.

There is a website where you can listen to a lot of these talks online for free.  You can also purchase them.  Here is a link to the talks that we are listening to now. http://http://www.fultonsheen.com/Fulton-Sheen-MP3s/Meditation-on-the-Passion—-3-and-4—Last-Supper-and-the-Agony.cfm?PID=34#

A blessed Triduum to you and a joyous Easter!

The Easter Bunny?! She’s early.

March 30, 2012

The Easter Bunny was a girl?  Who knew?!  Well, I guess if she lays Cadbury Eggs, she’d have to be.  I guess now she’ll have to get permission for the superior to make her Easter deliveries.  It’s really hard for a Sister to get away during on Easter.
